Miss World 2011 – Ivian Sarcos

The 61st edition of the Miss World pageant took place at the Earls Court Two on 6th of November 2011 in London.

Delegates from 113 countries and territories competed for the title of Miss World 2011 this year in London.

Miss World 2010 - Alexandria Mills

At the end of the competition Miss Venezuela, Ivian Sarcos was crowned the 61st Miss World 2011 taking over the reign of Alexandria Mills, Miss World 2010. Ivian Sarcos was crowned by Miss World 2010.

The first runner-up was 20-year-old Gwendoline Ruais of Philippines.

The second runner-up was Amanda Perez of Puerto Rico.

The 15 semi finalists included Indonesia, Korea, Italy, Sweden, Zimbabwe, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Venezuela, Philippines, US VI, Spain, Puerto Rico, South Africa, Scotland and England.

Miss Venezuela was also crowned as the first runner up in Miss International 2011.

Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi – nicknamed Tiger Pataudi, former Indian cricket captain was born on 5 January 1941.

Pataudi was the youngest captain at the age of 21 in the Indian cricket team’s history and is regarded as one of the finest ever.

Pataudi has totally played 46 test matches for India from 1961 to 1975 and also captained 40 test matches thereby winning nine of them.

His right eye got damaged in a car crash even then he continued playing and scored 2,793 runs at an average of 34.91 per innings.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes – Movie review

Rise of the Planet of the Apes is a 2011 American science fiction film. The film is directed by Rupert Wyatt. It is a reboot of the Planet of the Apes series.

The story starts with the scientist Will Rodman, currently residing in San Francisco. He is working on a cure for Alzheimer’s disease by performing tests on apes.

During his test a female chimpanzee gives birth to a baby chimpanzee named Caesar. Steven Jacobs orders to put down all the test chimpanzees after the escape of the female chimpanzee.

Robert Franklin, the subordinate responsible for carrying out this was not able to kill the baby chimpanzee and instead he kept it in his house. Caesar haves high intelligence, and learns unbelievably well.

Will gives a sample of his cure to his father, who is suffering from Alzheimer’s. Initially his father improves but illness came back again.

On by attacking a neighbor who threatened Will’s father, Caesar is forced to leave Will’s house and entered a primate facility in San Bruno, where the apes are held in cages and are cruelly treated.

Rodman again creates a more powerful cure to treat his father and begins testing on chimps begin. The new Cure strengthens the intelligence of the apes, but is critical to humans. Franklin dies because of his exposure towards the virus.

Caesar escapes from his cage and releases an airborne strain of the virus that increases the intelligence of the apes.

Because of the virus Caesar was able to speak and it made all apes escape from the primate facility, Will’s research institute and San Francisco Zoo.

They all escaped through the streets by fighting with a police blockade who stopped them from crossing.

The movie is most surprising in its seriousness as it shows a forceful character study of Caesar. Overall it is rated as 5/8 with most satisfying subject.

In this modern world no one wishes to be looking fat, People are ready to face all the challenges to become lean, some are taking advantage over this and started earning money out of this by giving ideas which may even cause hazard than good.

1. If I sharply reduce my calories, I will lose weight faster

When you try to cut your calories severely, your metabolism gets slow rather than speeding up by making it more difficult to lose weight. Avoid starving yourself.

Exercising on an Empty Stomach will not help you lose weight

2. You have to work out two hours a day, every day at a high intensity to lose weight

Not a true fact. Studies show that 30-60 minutes of moderate exercises like brisk walking or jogging is far enough to stay fit with a healthy intake of food.

3. You Can Burn More Fat Exercising on an Empty Stomach

Blood glucose will be low on an empty stomach when fasting, but you need glucose when you exercise.

If you fail to eat before a workout session; you risk muscle protein being converted to glucose to maintain a critical level of blood glucose.

Hence it is best to have some toast or energy bar or fruit juice or sports drink to give your blood glucose a little boost before you work out thereby preventing the use of muscle for energy.

4. If I drastically cut calories, I’ll lose weight faster

This is just the same as we discussed in first point. When you calorie intake is low, your body moves into Starvation mode through which your metabolism will actually slow down and you may not lose weight.

Drinking water is good for health, but it does not have any connection with weight loss.

6. The stricter the diet, the better it will work.

7. Don’t eat between meals.

Long gap between meals will make your metabolism go wrong, thereby getting too hungry which makes you overeat at your next meal.

8. Skipping meals will help me lose weight

Skipping meals will actually make you gain weight, your metabolism plummets and you get overly-hungry when go too long without eating. Because of this you may not be reaching your daily calorie requirements which will backfire on you.
