Preventing dark circles under eyes

Dark circles are a common skin bane. But many of us don’t know what it is that which makes those unwanted circles appear.

Overworking makes your skin look pale and saggy and brings out dark circles. Besides these, Ageing is another cause for dark circles owing to the skin becoming paler and thinner with age. Exposure to the sun for too long can also produce dark circles due to the skin releasing melanin that makes the skin look dark and the dark circles become more visible.

Sometimes allergies too result in visible dark circles. Certain allergies cause a lot of itching near the eyes and when the portion which itches is rubbed, the dark circles become markedly visible. Pregnancy and menstruation too result in prominent dark circles.Excess smoking and drinking also acts as one of the factors for dark circles. Tips to get relieve of these ugly dark circles
  1. Keep a pair of fine slices of cucumber on your eyes for 10-15 minutes. Make sure the juice of cucumber doesn’t get into your eyes.

    Cucumber with its natural lightening properties is known to alleviate the dark circle effect and in addition to that it has a great soothing effect. Once done, wipe the area under your eyes with a handkerchief/facecloth dipped in cold water.

  2. Next comes the Ice-cold tea bags (not the herbal ones though). Leave them on your eyes for 10 minutes, before that make sure the tea has been completely squeezed out. The anti-oxidants in tea are also a good tonic for the skin.

    The caffiene in the tea is known to lessen the dark circle effect. In fact caffiene is also known to reduce puffiness around the eyes by lessening the water content that causes the puffiness. Once done, wipe the area under your eyes with a handkerchief/facecloth dipped in cold water.

  3. Sunshades are a good option when moving out in the sun.

  4. Massage your eyes with almond oil before going to sleep. Almond oil works wonders on under eye skin.

  5. Keep cotton wool soaked in rose water on your eyes for 5-10 minutes. Rose water cools and soothes the skin.<

  6. Drink 8-10 glasses of water every day. Remember your dark circles are a dermatological problem.

  7. Try sleeping for at least 8 hours a day.

  8. Always carry an umbrella, wear sunshades, caps or hats when going out in the sun.

  9. Include a lot of fruits and vegetables in your daily food intake.

  10. Always go for under eye creams of reputed brands, there are creams for the night and all-day.
