The tenth Miss Earth pageant was at the Vinpearl Land Amphitheatre in Nha Trang, Vietnam on december 4th of 2010. Delegates from 84 countries and territories competed for the title of Miss Earth 2010 this year in beautiful Vietnam.
After a month of competition Miss India, Nicole Faria was announced as Miss Earth 2010, taking over the reign of Larissa Ribeiro Ramos, Miss Earth 2009. Unlike other shows, there was no “runner-up” instead the titles of Miss Earth-Air, Miss Earth-Water and Miss Earth-Fire is given for the next three contestants.
The Miss Earth-Air, Miss Earth-Water and Miss Earth-Fire titles went to
- Miss Ecuador – Jennifer Pazmi’o
- Miss Thailand – Watsaporn Wattanakoon and
- Miss Puerto Rico – Yeidy Bosques
This is the first time an Indian has won the “Miss Earth” title. Last year, the title went to Brazil’s Larissa. Indian designers say it’s an event that made India proud. “It’s a proud moment for India. It’s a very good thing that Indians are creating a mark and an Indian woman has won such a pageant.
“It’s very good that she has won but I don’t give any importance to beauty pageants. There are more important things happening, people are dying of poverty,” says designer Vijay Arora.
MISS ECUADOR WINS LONG GOWN AWARD
Miss Ecuador Earth, Jennifer Stephanie Pazmino Saldana emerged victorious as the Best in Long Gown. She was awarded a sash, plaque and a US$30,000. necklace studded with semi-precious stones and diamond.
The organizers this year will grant Miss Air and Miss Water awards, in addition to the usual honorifics for costume and talent.
Indian designers says thet India has become more of a cosmopolitan. It is acting like a sponge taking in from the world. If your capacity is more you can endorse more.
It is a very happy news for all that India has won the Miss Earth title for the first time.
