Navaratri – the festival of nine nights and ten days

Navratri is mainly a hindu festival which takes place usually in the beginning of October. The word Navaratri literally means nine nights in Sanskrit. Navratri is also known as Durga Puja. During these nine nights and ten days, nine forms of Shakti devi will be worshipped.

The Navaratri festival or Nine Nights festival becomes ten days festival with the addition of the last day, Vijayadashami.

It is exciting to note that the household who organizes the golu arrangement and prayers try to maintain their regional ethnicity. Golu tradition is followed primarily in Tamil Nadu in India. While the grown-ups enjoy recollecting their memories of Golu in Tamil Nadu, youth have a chance to take part and learn about Navarathri . This is my mams house golu, looks nice na!!!

The total nine nights is splitted into three days for durga, Lakshmi and Saraswathi.

First three days

Durga meaning Power, the goddess is separated as a spiritual force, matha durga is also known as Kali, as she destroys all the sin we do. I personally suggest you join with your parents in worshipping “Ma Durga” at least during this Navaratri time. She will give auspiciousness, prosperity, knowledge, and other potent powers for you to cross every hurdle of life.

Second three days

Lakshmi is portrayed as a beautiful woman of golden complexion, with four hands, sitting or standing on a full-bloomed lotus and holding a lotus bud, which stands for beauty, purity and fertility. Her four hands represents the four ends of human life:

  • dharma, the right things we do
  • kama – desires
  • artha – the wealth
  • moksha – the liberation from the cycle of birth and death

. The Mother is believed to secure her devotees from all kinds of misery and money-related sorrows. She is treated as a giver of spiritual wealth.

Final three days

The final set of three days is spent in worshipping the goddess of knowledge, Saraswati. Her four hands represents the four aspects of human personality in learning; mind, intelligence, alertness and ego.

Goddess Saraswathi

Eighth day is traditionally Durgashtami which is celebrated in Bengal.

Saraswati puja will be performed on the 9th day in some parts of South India. Ayudha Puja is conducted in many parts of South India on the Mahanavami (Ninth) day. Weapons, agricultural implements, all kinds of tools, equipments, machinery and automobiles are decorated and worshipped on this day along with the worship of Goddess.

The 10th day is celebrated as ‘Vijaya Dashami’. Many Schools in south India used to start teaching Kindergarten children from that day onwards. Schools that are closed for Navarathri will be re-opened on this day.

In North India, as the ending ceremony of Ramlila which is conducted during Dussehra, the dummy figuring of Ravana, Kumbhakarna, and Meghanada are burnt to celebrate the victory of good (Rama) over evil forces on the ‘Vijaya Dashami’ day.

Let us pray well, everyone in this world worships power, Durga, because there is no one who does not love and long for power in some form or the other.

We hope that this year Navaratri will gives all of us good knowledge, will power and good wealth. Smiley

The Commonwealth Games is an international, multi-sport event which will be held once in four years and features competitions involving thousands of privileged athletes from members of the Commonwealth of Nations.

The 2010 Commonwealth Games is the 19th Commonwealth Games and the ninth to be held under this name. The Games are being held in Delhi – India, as we all know Delhi is one of the lovable and beautiful places because of the lotus temple, Taj mahal, India gate, amazing forests and so on.

CWG is scheduled from October 3rd to 14th October 2010. The opening ceremony of CWG took place on 3rd of October 2010 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, the main stadium of the event. This marks the first time the Commonwealth Games have been held in India and the second time the event has been held in Asia .

The preparations for the Common Wealth Games (CWG) games received criticism in news media due to issues like heavy rains, floods, infrastructural compromise, broken or missing installations in the athletes’ village, preparation delays etc… These issues grew into a big fire which leads to the withdrawal of prominent athletes and adduction of widespread corruption. The only thing is that no nations withdrew and the games started on time. A widely-praised opening ceremony helped improve the name of the games.

India received appreciations from many countries who were criticizing India for the CWG issues. These grand appreciations had given India a good foundation for Olympics bid in future. Few days after the start of the game, focus has been automatically turned over to the sports side.

India begins day 7 in CWG with its 20th gold. As of now Australia is there in the leading position with 48 gold in their hand, , England is there in the second place with 20 gold, we are in the third place with the same 20 gold which is being followed by Canada. We Indians are now mainly depending on our shooters once again, who provided 50 per cent of their gold medals in the first four days, to help India stay ahead of England and Canada.

Go India Go.

Though Aishwarya Rai Bachchan looks stunning and acts most convincingly, Endhiran is full and full a Rajnikant show from starting to end.

As till i heard the film’s story revolves around a scientist’s struggle to control his own creation of an android robot whose processor was raised to such a higher standard, in order to give it the ability to grasp and generate human emotions, from further sociological mishaps. After setting its eyes on a pretty woman, the robot develops love for her, who also happens to be the love interest of the scientist, which creates a conflict between the two. The film got released today i.e on(01-10-2010) worldwide along with its dubbed versions. The film is named as Robot in Hindi and Robo in Telugu. True to Rajini style, the climax of the film is being the mother of all climaxes.

Hmmm to tell about the make of the film we all know that Enthiran is a science fiction film co-written and directed by Mr.Shankar. The film features Sir Rajinikanth in dual roles, one as a science professor and another role as a superintelligent android robot.

Music was composed by A. R. Rahman, the Oscard award winner and R. Rathnavelu handled Cinematography.

The film shooting began on February 15 2008 in Chennai. The first schedule of the film commenced on September 2008 at Peru, where a song sequence casting Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai was shot under the choreography of Raju Sundaram at the Machu Picchu, the song is Kilimanjaro song and it’s a very famous number.
